Phylogenetic Trees

A phylogenetic tree is a branching diagram or "tree" which shows the predicted evolutionary relationships among various biological species based upon similarities and differences in their genetic characteristics. The species joined together in the tree are implied to have descended from a common ancestor.

TreeFam (1)
is a database of phylogenetic trees of animal genes. It is a resource that gives reliable information about orthologs and evolutionary history of various gene families.

Analysis

The lineage given in the TreeFam tree follows the CFTR mRNA sequence homology.  As expected, Pan troglodytes is the closest relative to Homo sapiens, while Danio rerio is the most divergent of the homologous CFTR genes.
